As cities around the world have started to come out of the pandemic lockdown, life continues as normal but with health precautions. The long period of isolation might affect some people. Western Shore Book House, a library in Tianjin city has an adorable way to help visitors to cope with their loneliness.

That’s right, the library has commission seven cats, assigned them as “intern curators”. Their task would be to accompany lonely readers who have been affected by the pandemic. The cats chosen for the new job are from various breeds such as Chinchilla, Exotic Short-Hair, Ragdoll, and are a year old. These adorable felines will begin their new duties starting on the 24 August.

Western Shore Book House was opened to the public on 18 January but soon was forced to close due to the pandemic. The library, located inside Tianjin Tower, keeps thousands of books and is one of the main attractions in Tianjin. Standing 257 meters above ground, the library offers visitors a panoramic view of the city. As the lockdown began to ease down, Tianjin introduced "Fragrance of Books", a campaign to encourage its people to read more.
The pandemic has affected most of us in any kind of way. It is nice to see that these cats will help visitors who are feeling lonely because of the long city close down. Aside from taking care of our physical health, we must not forget about our mental health needs too. STAY SAFE GUYS!!!
