Battling the third wave of Covid-19 in Malaysia, the pressure is on to accelerate the vaccination drive and inoculate more citizens against the virus.
The largest convention centre in Borneo - Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) is chosen as the Mega PPV (Pusat Pemberian Vaksin / Vaccine Dispensing Centre) venue in Kuching, Sarawak 7th June to 31st October.
“We are honoured to be chosen as a PPV site, and we are ready to become an active part of the solution in Sarawak’s effort’s to flatten the curve and to return Sarawak to safety and normalcy,” said Tan Sri Datuk Amar Wilson Baya Dandot, Executive Director of BCCK.
Eric Van Piggelen, Chief Executive Officer of BCCK, urged everyone who qualified for a vaccine to register for the sake of public safety and as well as Malaysia’s economy.
To avoid complications on the day, a trial run will be carried out from 3rd to 6th June, with vaccinations officially beginning on 7th June 2021.
BCCK is expecting to serve up to 4,000 people per day, with the potential to expand up to 10,000.
Mandatory safety precautions include social distancing of at least 1 meter between individuals, temperature and My Sejahtera scanning at entrances, and frequent sanitising.
BCCK is equipped with a shaded and conveniently located drop-off point for those using e-hailing options. There is also ample parking and handicap facilities for disabled people.
*IMPORTANT: Those with confirmed registrations are advised to arrive 15 minutes prior to their vaccination appointment, with the first vaccinations starting at 9:00 am. Be sure to double-check your appointments on the My Sejahtera app before your vaccination date.
For the safety of those with vaccination appointments, we would like to remind the public that walk-ins for vaccinations are NOT PERMITTED and events within the centre at this time will be put on hold. The Raintree Restaurant and BCCK’s food outlets still offer takeaway at this time.
