Macgres Sawet and Nabiatul Dania Zulfiqa Mohd Zulfadhi from Sekolah Kebangsaan Temong, Serian, Sarawak won "Best Film By Popular Jury" prize in the primary school category at the Alvorada International School Film Festival (FECEA) in Brazil.
The film, B.B - Batuh Bijanji, mean promise stones in Bidayuh Serian dialect. The animated film is five-and-a-half-minute, telling the story of an enduring friendship between two girls, Bibi and Sarah, despite the tragedy befalls one of them.
Macgres and Nabiatul were assisted by their teachers Wan Zulfadli and Mohd Reduan Patah as well as the D-Mulsion Production. The project began when the two girls attended a two-day storytelling DISTA animation workshop (Digital Storytelling Animation) organized by Sarawak Education Technology Division (now known as SSTP Sarawak), Ministry of Education, Science and Technology Research (MESTR) and Technology Research (MESTR) Sarawak Multimedia Board (SMA) which is the initiative of Sarawak government towards digital.
The FECEA awards ceremony was conducted on Nov 28 through Google Meet, and trophies will be posted to all winners.
Datuk Amar Michael Manyin Jawong, Minister of Education, Science and Technological Research Sarawak said that the duo will receive incentives from the state soon. Manyin also mentioned during his official launch of St Paul Church in Kampung Tema Saan that the ministry will look into upgrading SK Temong.
