So, you are preparing tonight’s dinner. You slice the meat, chop the veggies. There’s nothing ordinary about it, right? Not so fast, check on your chopping board. Is it dirty with mould and full of scratches? If yes, then you are risking yourself or anyone with food poisoning!

Each time you slice raw meat, bits of it are left trapped inside the scratches of the chopping board. These raw leftovers contained bacteria like E. coli and Salmonella.
These are the bad boys giving you nasty diarrhoea.
And if you’re using the same board to cut fruits and vegetables, then there are risks of your plant produces getting contaminated too with these harmful bacteria. Even using dish soap, it can still be difficult to wash them out from the chopping board.
For this situation, it is recommended to have different chopping boards for each different food type. For example, have a suitable chopping board for wet food such as meat. Also, have a chopping board for plant produces and another for dry food like bread.
Not to forget, do keep your chopping board in clean condition and have them disinfect regularly. If your chopping board has started to moulded up, just follow these easy steps using three simple household items, baking soda, lemon slices, and vinegar.
Firstly, spread the baking soda on the chopping board surface. Scrub them with the sliced lemons and leave it around for 10 minutes. Lastly, rinse the chopping board with vinegar. Repeat the steps until you successfully remove all of the mold.
Supposing the mould is too stubborn to get rid of or the whole chopping board is heavily damaged with knife scratches, it is highly advisable to just replace it with a new chopping board.
