Alpro Pharmacy Expands with Five New Outlets in Bintulu Sarawak!

Malaysia’s largest pharmacy chain, Alpro Pharmacy, recently announced the opening of its five new pharmacies in Bintulu. In addition to the ten existing outlets in Kuching, the new outlets promise to bring professional and personalised pharmacy care to the coastal town of Sarawak.

“Growing up in a small town like Sarikei, I understand that it was not always easy to get medication or professional care. Therefore, together with fellow Sarawakian partners Joshua Tu and Kiing Ai Siang, we started our first outlet in Kuching three years ago,” said Ph. Wong Ling Fung, Director of Alpro Pharmacy Sarawak.

With e-pharmacy, door-to-door medication delivery can be done much more efficiently to cater to the local community's needs.

The new outlets in Bintulu are located at Sibiyu, Medan Jaya, Park City, Jalan Keppel and Junction 5.

Besides professional pharmacists in all their outlets, Alpro also has nutritionists and dietitians, and even physiotherapists in some outlets. The goal is to provide one-stop professional healthcare services, according to Ph. Wong.  He added that Alpro is also one of the largest rental service providers for rehabilitation equipment like wheelchairs, hospital beds and oxygen concentrators, and ripple mattresses.

*Fun Fact: Do you know that Alpro Pharmacy is currently Malaysia's No.1 prescription pharmacy, filling over 250,000 prescriptions per year?

With the vision of a healthy and vibrant world, Alpro Pharmacy is committed to supporting and taking care of the communities.

“We are constantly on the lookout for opportunities where we can support the communities around us. Our foundation is working with our local partners to see how we could contribute here. We have installed a medication disposal bin at all our outlets to free up expired or unwanted medication that should not be disposed of like domestic wastes as it pollutes landfills and affects the ecosystem," said Ostwin Paw, CEO of Alpro Foundation.

Alpro Pharmacy for the Community

The Growing Stars Project by the Alpro Foundation is an effort dedicated to supporting school-going children from poverty backgrounds who struggle to continue their education. Most of them are from single-parent families, orphanages, live with their grandparents or have parents who are ill and unable to generate an income.

Currently, the foundation is supporting 150 pupils nationwide with RM100 per month.

“We believe education is essential for someone to break out from the cycle of poverty,” Wong said.

Apart from that, Alpro also provides more than 150 families with patients requiring oral nutrition support. According to CEO Paw, the primary source of funds for the Alpro Foundation is from "recycling efforts and contributions from the sales of its charity water and other selected products.”

In conjunction with the opening of the five new outlets in Bintulu, special in-store promotions are available, and customers will also stand a chance to win prizes and exclusive gifts!

Alpro Pharmacy started humbly from a single outlet in the small town of Port Dickson in 2002. Today, it is a diversified community pharmacy chain that provides one-stop healthcare solutions, covering almost every major city and town in Malaysia.  Alpro now operates over 160 stores nationwide and is supported by more than 200 pharmacists, 150 nutritionists and dietitians, 30 physiotherapists, and many other healthcare professionals.

Congratulations on your expansion in Bintulu, Sarawak!
