Sarawak: Bonnie Bunyau Is Still The World Champion!

Tokyo Paralympics champion Bonnie Bunyau Gustin retain his status as the world champion at the 2021 World Para Powerlifting Championships in Tbilisi, Georgia, on Thursday night, December 2.

Bonnie, a Serian born Sarawakian, dominated the men's 72kg category right from the beginning.

He secured the world championship with a 210kg lift, beating China's Peng Hu.

"I was extremely happy with the win in Tokyo, and this is my second gold at the World Championship. The only setback is that I could not beat my world record this time around," said Bonnie via an interview with the International Federation of Paralympic Powerlifting.

Congratulations to Bonnie! You have always made Sarawak proud!
