The national Covid-19 infectivity rate or Rt has risen past 1.0 on Thursday, said Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, Malaysia Health-General.
The Rt has been on the rising trend since 7 November where it finally surpassed 1.0 yesterday. The Rt has maintained below 1.0 since mid-October.
Putrajaya leads the chart with an increase of Rt of 1.16, Kuala Lumpur 1.04, Selangor 1.03, Negeri Sembilan and Pahang at 1.01.
Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah had previously said that an Rt above 1.0 indicates the possibility of a new Covid-19 wave, like what Malaysia experienced at the beginning of the third wave.
Khairy Jamaluddin, Malaysia's Health Minister, urged Malaysians to honour their Covid-19 booster shot appointment because of the rising of the Covid-19 infectivity rate.
National Rt back to 1.0. We are monitoring hospital admissions & other leading indicators. If you have been given an appointment for a booster dose, take it. The elderly, where possible, should avoid crowded places. Practice #TRIIS https://t.co/JUiMgPtJqr— Khairy Jamaluddin ???????????? (@Khairykj) November 12, 2021
