No. This is not about a haunted store story, nor it is about the supernatural activities that are going on inside the "haunted" store.
If fact, it does feel a bit "haunted" because you always end up spending some monies even though you are just "window-shopping". I know you have this itch every single time you walked into the store.
For example, you are going into a store just to buy one pen. One hour later, you will come out with not only a pen but some other items that you "might use" in the near future... this is what we referred to as "kedai berhantu".
Here's our version of 'Kedai Berhantu' in Kuching.

1. Mr DIY
This is probably the worse shop that could open here in Kuching! There are so many of them that you just can't resist it. The variety is so huge that it probably takes hours in the store just to see all the products. You could get your decoration items, stationaries, plumbing and electrical... the list is endless. Now you see why I 'hate' this store.

2. Kaison
How can you not like this store, even though you are not an interior designer? There are so many decorative items like artificial plants, flowers and talk about the number of pillows and rugs! We know how the ladies like pillows and rugs, right? You know this is the "kedai berhantu" for you when you walked into a cafe and say, that is from Kaison. You know you are one of them because I am one too (guilty).

3. Daiso
Argh. I remember the anticipation in waiting for Daiso to open in Kuching. Daiso is founded in Japan and has more than 2,800 stores in Japan alone! I remember walking into Daiso, Japan; I was immediately overwhelmed with all the items sold, only 100 yen each. Without thinking much, I piled up on the Japanese snacks. Here in Kuching, you get similar items, just fewer snacks item. I especially like the hand warmer, perfect for 'girl problem' and it's SO CHEAP.

4. Ninso
If you are looking for household items, look no further than Ninso. You will be spoilt for choices for the pails, containers, hangers and other household items. Did I mention, if you are green fingers, you can find a wide range of plastic pots and even soil here. They also sell everything for RM2.30 only! How can you resist that right?

Another version of Ninso, ECO shop also sells everything for RM2.30. You will have the usual gardening items, household items and kitchenware. They also sell a lot of snacks and drinks.

6. SK Hardware
What can I say about SK Hardware? A guy's heaven. Every guy's dream of having endless tools, what is another screwdriver, right? It is the place to be if you need endless bolts, plumbing items, and did we mention power tools? Not only that, you could get a toilet bowl, kitchen sink and hood, lighting, fan and literally everything if you want to remodel your house here. Did we mention that the queue for the shop is long? Yes. It is. Especially on the weekend, because it's a man's playground (or some women's).

7. Guardian
Yes. I know I'm a fan of the Guardian shop. I wouldn't resist. Especially there is some promotion going on. Because you can't have enough shampoos, right?

8. Watson
The rivalry of Guardian. I know some people walk in both just to compare pricing. Who else is guilty of it. I might have done so myself. You can get everything from vitamins to masks to collagen drinks here.

9. Emart Tabuan Jaya
Ok. I'm going specifically on this, Emart. Emart Tabuan Jaya just has so many things! There is an imported section filled with goodies that you probably cannot get from other grocery stores. There is a section selling television, household items, groceries. It is HUGE! It is approximately 83,000 square feet of shopping heaven! I can easily spend more than one hour inside Emart Tabuan Jaya. Oh, did I mention I love the self-checkout counter?

10. ML Home Mart
A lot of you probably never heard of this store, but this is the closest place to Ikea for us here in Kuching. They have so many Ikea items from spoons to mugs and even Ikea Lack table and shelf. Almost everyone has at least one Ikea thing in their house. This ML Home Mart is a three-storey standalone building, so yes, there are many items here to "window shop". Even though nowadays Ikea do home delivery, but you would not resist buying just another "stool" from here.
If you managed to walk out without buying anything, you would feel the "sense of achievement" that you beat this "supernatural" phenomenon.
