Yesterday, as Sarawak Disaster Management Committee reported, 171 people were tested positive in Sibu, Sarawak. Amongst the numbers, 40 reported from one old folk's home in Sibu.
These 40 patients included 27 elderly and 13 workers at the centre.
According to the state Health Director, Dr Chin Zin Hing, this new cluster involves two nursing home for the elderly.
It is still unclear whether this new cluster is related to the Pasai cluster, it will be made known after completing their investigation.
Sibu is the epicentre of Sarawak’s worst Covid-19 outbreak so far, contributing 2,539 cases to the state’s total of 6,832 with many of the cases recorded since January. The district has also recorded the most number of deaths at 33 out of 61 statewide.
