Banana is the most versatile fruit. You can eat it raw, or bake it into a cake or fry it as fritters. Each raw banana you consume will provide 2.6g of dietary fibre and 89 calories. If you are having digestive issues, banana is the simplest treatment you can get.

However, how a banana reacts to your digestion problems depends on the fruit's state, whether it is unripe green or ripe yellow. Green banana can aid when you have diarrhoea. When unripe, banana contains pectin that helps normalise your stools. The yellow banana is useful when you have constipation. Ripe banana contains resistant starch, the food source for the “good” bacteria inside your intestine. If you want to hasten your digestive process, just eat the yellow banana.

Many people enjoy mangoes for its sweet and sour flavour, and we can consume the fruit raw just as it is or to make into desserts. Mangoes have the nutrients of 2.6g dietary fibre and contain 99 calories. This tropical fruit carries both dietary fibre and water, the key component for good digestion. They also have enzymes called amylases, which help to break down bigger food molecules into sugar for better absorption.

A study conducted by the Texas A & M whether the mango is better than fibre supplement on constipation treatment. In this study, 36 adult men and women suffering from chronic constipation were divided into two groups. One group consumes one mango per day, and the other group consumes fibre powder supplements. After four weeks, the study shows that mangoes are more effective in relieving constipation and reducing intestinal inflammation.

Rambutan gets its name from the word, “rambut” meaning hair in Indonesia and Malaysia. In Vietnam, it is called “chôm chôm”, meaning messy hair. But do not underestimate with this messy hair fruit, as it can help with your messy digestion. Each 100g serving of rambutan contains 86 calories and 2.8g in soluble and insoluble dietary fibre.

Soluble fibre slows down digestion, giving you a more prolonged feeling of fullness. Rambutan also nourishes the “good” bacteria in your large intestine, lowering your risk of heart disease. For insoluble fibre, they can prevent you from getting constipation. This fibre also aids the stool to absorb water, making it easier to move inside the intestine. Any leftover food inside the intestine will also be absorbed to become waste.

These dietary fibres will provide your intestine with “good” bacteria and help nourish your gastrointestinal tract. Star fruit digest slowly in your intestine, causing the stool bulk to build up and prevent you from getting constipation.

If you have trouble with sleeping, try star fruit. This fruit contains magnesium, which enriches the gamma-Aminobutyric acid (GABA) in your brain. GABA help the body and mind to relax, thus allowing you to fall asleep easily.
