WhatsApp has unveiled an exciting update that allows users to silence calls from unknown numbers. This latest feature aims to provide enhanced privacy and control over incoming calls, enabling users to filter out spam, scams effectively, and calls from unfamiliar contacts.
Silence Unknown Callers
In their recent blog post, WhatsApp highlighted the significance of the 'Silence Unknown Callers' update in ensuring user protection. By activating this feature, users can conveniently screen unwanted calls, which will no longer ring on their phones. However, these calls will still be visible in the Call list, ensuring important calls are not missed.
To activate this feature, navigate to Settings > Privacy > Calls > Silence unknown callers.

WhatsApp further elaborates on the functionality, allowing users to contact unknown callers from the Calls tab or send them a message by tapping their number. It's important to note that once a user reaches out to a silenced caller, future silencing of their calls will not be possible. Alternatively, users have the option to block calls from unknown numbers entirely.
Privacy Checkup
To enhance user privacy, WhatsApp is introducing Privacy Checkup, a step-by-step guide that assists users in navigating the various privacy settings available within the app. Privacy Checkup provides controls to manage contact permissions, secure personal information like profile photos, and implement additional security measures such as fingerprint lock.

Other Additional Features
In addition to end-to-end encryption, the company continues to introduce other privacy features, including Chat Lock, Disappearing Messages, screenshot blocking for View Once, and the ability to maintain online presence privacy.
Adding Silence Unknown Callers and Privacy Checkup expands WhatsApp's privacy-focused features, giving users more control and peace of mind. Recognizing the importance of secure communication, WhatsApp is raising awareness about privacy measures worldwide.
Recently, WhatsApp launched a campaign encouraging users to connect with friends and loved ones securely via private messages, emphasizing the availability of a safe and confidential space for open conversations.
